St Andrew’s Regatta
A couple of things regarding the upcoming regatta:
First – This weekend’s regatta is at St. Andrews School on Noxontown Pond in Middletown, DE. The race schedule has not been published yet but we anticipate that racing will begin around 1:00pm and go until 4:00pm. Everyone should plan to arrive between 10:00 and 10:30am. The drive is approximately 2 ½ hours. Directions are on our website on the regattas page
Second – We are looking for a host for a pasta party this Friday before the St Andrews regatta. It’s easy – everyone else brings the food and supplies -you just supply the house. If anyone can help out, please contact Linda Decelle at LSDecelle@aol.com or 732 598-6008.

05/08 RFH Carwash
Dear RFH Crew Members,
On May 8th, one of our rowers, Brigitte Fitzsimmons, will be running a car wash to support Relay for Life & The American Cancer Society.
I strongly encourage everyone to help support this great cause. Vouchers for $10 can be purchased from the guidance office for the event. If any parents are having a hard time obtaining a voucher please contact me.
Practice on Tuesday 05/08 will be delayed by 30 minutes to allow all athletes, parents and coaches to attend the car wash. This means practice will run from 3:45 – 6:30 for all athletes.
Thank you for particpating in this wonderful event,

Sunday’s Regatta on Long Island
Additional info for Sunday’s regatta in Long Island:
- Coxswains should plan to arrive by 6:30. Men’s and women’s varsity and novice rowers by 6:45 and men’s JV by 8:30.
- Weather is predicted to be mostly clear and in the 60’s. Don’t forget the sunscreen!
- For those of you who have not been to this regatta before, it is a wet launch. This means that the kids have to wade into the water to launch their boats and the water will be cold! Bring appropriate footwear for the beach.
- Driving directions are on our website on the Regattas page or you can use the address of The Tides Motor Inn for your GPS – 2 Bayville Avenue, Locust Valley, NY 11560. Early in the morning, drive time should be about 2 hours or a little less.
- We have a limited number of pink and blue passes and any extras will be distributed at the pasta party.
- Blue Passes are not for parking! They allow access to West Harbor Drive. This is new this year. If you are coming along the harbor (West Shore Rd.) you will cross the Drawbridge leading into Bayville. The first right hand turn after the drawbridge will be monitored for Pink and Blue Passes. You can’t turn there if you don’t have either pass.
- Shuttle bus service from the alternate parking begins at 6:15. There will be five buses making the 2 mile trip. They will all be in service by 7:00 am. If you come any earlier to alternate parking than 6:00 am with rowers, please drop them off at the venue first.
- Coaches and coxswains meeting is at 7:00 AM
- Pasta Party, Saturday at 6:30 hosted by the Decelles!
- Row hard! Have fun!

Message about this Sunday’s Regatta
A few things about the upcoming regatta -
First, there will be a Pasta Party at the Decelle’s, Saturday at 6:30. Their address is 162 Black Point Rd, Rumson. A couple things are still needed. If you can help, please go to the doodle poll and sign up. The link is – http://www.doodle.com/qvqz4ink9d6ekznv
Second we have a message from the organizers of this Sunday’s regatta, which follows. Please note at the end there are several links to documents that were attached to the message.
Message from Troy Smith, organizer of the Long Island Junior Rowing Championships:
Hi Everyone,
I want to welcome you to the Long Island Junior Rowing Championships Sunday May 6th, 2012. Please see all attached documents for information pertaining to regatta.
Schedule of races is included but the lane assignments are not yet ready. I will send the lane assignments when they are ready.
Parking passes were mailed on Monday April 30th. Sorry for the delay. They were sent to the address provided by the person who does entries for your team.
There are over 1000 athletes participating at this year’s regatta. We have 300 parking spots at the venue for cars. Carpooling and busing is strongly advised. When you get your passes there are blue passes and pink passes. Only the pink passes get into the venue. Blue passes can use West Harbor drive to drop off rowers and small items. 500 hundred spots are located at the alternate parking area but there is no pass requirement to park there. We have to avoid parking on the roads indicating “no parking”.
I’ve included driving directions that lead any cars without a passes directly to the alternate parking areas. From there you are taking the shuttle bus to the regatta. You can use these directions to limit the traffic flow around the venue. You can also follow the boat trailer directions but you will still have to go west after you cross the Bayville draw bridge to the Stehli Beach Parking area if you are not a pink pass holder. (Use The Tides Motor Inn address for your GPS, 2 Bayville Avenue, Locust Valley, NY 11560)
Coaches Meeting is at 7:00 am in front of Show Mobile.
Thank You,
Troy Smith
